Central Dearness Allowance or CDA rates is the cost of living adjustment allowance that gets paid to the central government employees, and prisoners in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The Central Dearness Allowance is calculated as a percentage of an Indian citizen (employee) basic salary to mitigate the impact of inflation on people, and the Indian citizens usually get a basic salary and pension that gets supplemented by housing or a CDA or both.

You should know that CDA is a fully taxable allowance, and also, there are two types of CDA available out there.

These
types are the:

  1. Central Dearness Allowance is admissible under the terms of employment.
  2. CDA is not given under the terms of employment.

  • Dearness Allowance %= {(Average of AICPIN (Base year 2001=100) for the past 12 months – 115.77)/115.77}*100

To Calculate the CDA Rates for Central government employees, the formula after 1.1.2007 is

  • Dearness Allowance %= {(Average of AICPIN (Base year 2001=100) for the past 3 months – 126.33)/126.33}*100
